Gamay

(Borgonja, Borgonja istarska, Gamay, Gamay Beaujolais, Gamay noir, Petit Gamai)
Red wine

This is absolutely one of the oldest sorts known. It´s believed that the roman emperor Probus brought it to Dalmatia from France back in the 3rd Century.  One is sure, in the 14th Century this sort was extremely popular in Burgundy. The full name reads - Gamay Noir à Jus Blanc, Which means black Gamay with white juice, because this sort has a white pulp. It is a result of a spontaneous crossing between Pinot and Gouais Blanc. It is mostly grown in France, especially in Beaujolais, where it occupies 99% surface of the vineyards. The whole production of this famous wine resides on the Gamay sort.

The wine of the Gamay is red, has an intense smell and is most harmonious.

It´s served at room temperature between 15°C and 18°C.
