Barbera

(Barbera)
Red wine

Barbera is an old sort of grapes which originates from Italy.

The wine gains quality only when it´s made from reduced crop in a warmer climate. It has a high level of acids and an almost purple color, which is very inconsistent and can be stabilized by putting the wine into oak barrels (barriques), as to increase the level of tannin.

Barbera can develop an attractive aroma of currants, plums, sour cherries or blackberries. Its aroma is too light and so this wine is used for blending with some "stronger" sorts.
