Red wine

Alicante Bouschet is a sort of red grapes, which had been developed by two French winemakers, a father and a son. In the year 1824 the father took Aramon and crossed it with Teinturier du Cher, that´s how the Petit Bouschet came into existence. Then in 1865 the son continued his father´s path and crossed Petit Bouschet with the sort Greneche, and the result was Alicante Bouschet.

This sort is very fertile and gives to 30 tons grapes per hectare. The grapes from this sort aren´t good enough to be used for winemaking independently, so they are blended with other sorts. This sort is appropriate for cultivation in temperate climatic conditions. Whereas too cold climatic conditions cause exceeding sourness, the too hot cause insufficient sourness.

This sort gives a very dark juice, which is the inheritance from the Teinturier du Cher. It also has a red inside of the berry and a very thick hull.

(I assume, that this sort has all the predispositions to give good wine, if the crop were to be cut down to about 8 tons per hectare. - authors note.)
