Yellow Muskat is an old sort that prevails all over the world. It has a very strong musk bouquet.
The berries are of medium size, yellow-green and are very often used for eating. The Gewürztraminer is one of the mutations of this sort.
During bad years it develops a very strong acidity, in which case it´s mixed with Riesling, Silvanac or white Burgundy wine.
Warm and damp regions like Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Bulgaria, Algeria and Chile draw the best characteristics from of this sort and give sweet mace or flaunting dessert wines.
The Yellow Muskat is used in Hungary as one of the ingredients of the famous Tokaji.
This wine is light and drinkable.
